Rebecca Mordechai is a full-time writer at TIME for Kids and TIME Edge, and an occasional researcher for TIME. She is also a former middle school English teacher with a Master of Arts in English Literature Education from Brooklyn College. Her freelance work in non-fiction has appeared in Electric Literature, The Forward, Tablet, Lilith, and Jewcy.
She likes to write about her Azerbaijani culture and her Orthodox Jewry because those two things swathed her in blankets of patriarchy growing up. She’s still not over it. Follow her on Twitter at @rebeccamordecha
